This month the singing lessons are different. You could even say that they have turned more into lessons of how to control the voice. This is due to the fact that my acting auditions for theatre academies in the UK are approaching. And for the monologues I am going to perform, vocal preparation is crucial. I have realized when practicing at home, that I get how to pronounce the English words in the monologues and how to set the tone, however I have some trouble with speaking loud and clear without damaging my voice. When I try to speak loudly for a monologue I notice that my vocal chords get tense and my throat feels sore, so this is something my teacher has been helping me address for the past month with various exercises and I really felt that they helped. I also learned how to throw my voice around in the sense that I can move the pitch higher or lower without feeling that soreness, which, for me, is a great step towards upgrading the quality of my performances in the auditions.
